Venture Cup Regionfinal 2023 i Region Öst

Den 24 maj var det Regionfinal i Region Öst i STARTUP 2023! Denna gång höll vi till i Stockholm och specifikt hos The Park Södra. 4 vinnare korades under eventet som delade på priserna Game Changer, Beyond Academic, Best Traction och Impact Maker. Dessutom delades två extra priset ut, Flemingsberg Science Award och Publikens pris ut, som är ett pris som publiken fick rösta om i realtid.

De bolag som vann var inga mindre än Tomorrow Machine, Funki, SLF Svenska Laserfabriken och Merit Diagnostics. Dessa 4 bolag vann 10 000 kronor var och en kvalificering till Sverigefinalen som går av stapeln senare i höst, där de ställs mot övriga regioners vinnare. Vinnaren av Flemingsberg Science Award blev scientifyRESEARCH och Publikens Pris blev WindMotors.

Game Changer - Vinnare: Tomorrow Machine

Juryns motivering:
"This company has developed a biodegradable material that challenges conventional food packaging design. Their material is inspired by nature and is designed to break down under different conditions, much like a fruit peel. This disruptive innovation has the potential to create a new market for biodegradable food packaging and change the way we package and transport food in the future. Their sustainable and cost-effective product is an outstanding contribution to the industry and worthy of consideration for the Game Changer prize."

Beyond Academic - Vinnare: Funki

Impact Maker - Vinnare: Merit Diagnostics

Juryns motivering:
"This idea is the key to the future of healthcare. Time saves lives, something that is truly at the heart of these entrepreneurs’ business idea. Sepsis is a life threatening condition affecting 40 million people worldwide where early detection is essential. Our winners have done just that by developing a sensor that allows for rapid diagnostics within just 5 minutes, as well as being flexible and portable allowing for the solution to be brought to patients wherever they are. This team also blew the jury away with a stellar pitch delivery and business acumen. We see great potential in this team - true impact in the making."

Flemingsberg Science Award - Vinnare: scientifyRESEARCH

Juryns motivering:
"The major societal challenges we face today require collaborations across different disciplines. The need for research has never been bigger than now with challenges like pandemics, climate change and equality. With an ambitious plan and a strong team, this year’s winner of the Flemingsberg Science Award is working to ensure that researchers around the world, regardless of location, have equal access to research funding information. They provide a tool for open and structured research funding database to all researchers and have launched a scale up strategy with a product range from freemium option to premium subscription supported by e-commerce making the vision reachable to be the go-to resource in five years! Their vision is a world where the best research and the most promising researchers are funded."
