The solution allows farmers to save up to 50% of the water used in irrigation processes

Agriculture accounts for 70% of the global freshwater consumption. Much of it is wasted due to overwatering and inefficient systems. This fact together with climate change and population growth are not the best ingredients for a sustainable food security. IO-dit was born with the purpose of saving water and resources from agriculture, just by listening to the plants.

The team are developing a smart irrigation system based on sensors that allows us to know in real time everything that the plants need. It is important to know not only when do they need water but also very important when not. We can also know how and when they want to get fertilized. This solution allows farmers to save up to 50% of the water used in irrigation processes by watering when it's needed, watering the right time and amount and alerting the farmer of water leakages and anomalies that could lead to further water wasting. On top of that, it can not only increase crop yield up to 40% but also prevent crop pests and diseases as well as skip irrigation schedules thanks to sufficient rain volume predictions and save working hours.

IO-dit is one of 20 ideas who made it on to Venture Cup's yearly Top20 list of best business ideas in Sweden.
"Winning this price, we realize that people share our vision and that such a solution needs to exist in this world right now. We expect to increase our networking thanks to this and gain visibility." - Maria Martinez, Co-founder.

The vision is to power the new agricultural revolution by providing an innovative and sustainable solution with which by measuring information from soil and environment, their customers can make decisions more easily for their crops in relation to irrigation, fertilization and sowing, among others.

IO-dit has already completed the MVP for the solution in Veberöd and are working to have another one running in Valencia, Spain. All devices are scalable, wireless controlled, solar powered (even working under cloudy conditions) and equipped with a durable and environmentally friendly battery (new technology of batteries made without toxic nor harmful chemicals that are more suitable for solar charging cycles).

We want to congratulate IO-dit on the award, we are looking forward to follow your journey!
