SunFeeds: Winner of Impact Maker in region south 2022

SunFeeds- New nutritional replacement foods based on sunflower kernels. SunFeeds focuses on two things; developing food products and formulating an approach to facilitate the product in, what SunFeeds like to call, the right way. At Venture Cup's regional final in region south, SunFeeds won Impact Maker, 50 000 SEK and also a spot in the National Final in October.

Hunger is still one of the world's biggest solvable health problems. Today, 17 million children live on the border between life and death as a result of hunger. In Sweden alone, as many as 60% of the population over the age of 65 are at risk of malnutrition. Hunger can take different forms and affect different types of people, but the devastation is always big. Achieving the UN's global goal #2 Zero Hunger requires more innovative solutions to solve this health problem. SunFeeds wants to act and contribute with solutions. And they already are.

SunFeeds is new nutritional replacement foods based on sunflower kernels.

- "Important advantages of the products are that they are free from nuts and legumes. The products have a grateful consistency that is easy to eat and swallow. Its smart packaging facilitates distribution to and within healthcare or in emergency situations. This makes us as a company and also the product adaptable an easily accessible. SunFeeds aims to be produced close to the consumer." Says the team.

The founders, Elsa and Iris, met when they started high school in Lund. They studied together in a class focusing on global health where they had the opportunity to work during school time on projects to address current world issues and problems. One of the theme works focused specifically on the hunger problem. Later, when it was time to write high school work, they chose to do this on the same subject. Back then, there was only one type of product in this category, a cream based on peanuts. This lead them to formulate their thesis: Is it possible to make a RUTF cream on something other than peanuts? After lab tests they could answer: YES it's possible!

- "SunFeed's big goal is to help in the fight against UN's global goal #2 Zero Hunger. We have three major milestones set for the future: 1. To produce and deliver SunFeeds first batch to a customer within one year, 2. To be a supplier of SunFeeds cream to three different regions in Sweden within three years, and 3. To be a supplier of SunFeeds RUTF to UNICEF within seven years." Says the team.

At Venture Cup's regional final in the south region, SunFeeds won Impact Maker and 50 000 SEK, which means that they directly qualifies to the National Final in October.
